Frequently Asked Questions
If you've a question to ask in relation to the Carnival, you may find that it is answered below. If it isn't you're welcome to try the Any Questions? page but we'd be grateful if you'd check here first.
Carnival Parade
No, you will not receive a reply or acknowledgement when you send in an entry form. (Please do consider whether you can add lights to your float or costumes - and join the illuminated parade on the Thursday as well as the Wednesday parade.)
Fireworks
The fireworks and the illuminated parade - together with various other evening events, and the funfair, are on the Thursday of Carnival week - so for 2024 they'll be on 22nd August. The fireworks are at 9.15 pm. We put some events directly in the 'Events' listing and full listings of all Carnival events are available on the home page of this site from about a month before everything happens.

Carnival week is always held in August, in the week which includes the third Wednesday.
So in 2024 it will be held from Saturday 17th August to Friday 24th August, with Carnival Day being held on Wednesday 21st August.
Carnival Day is always the 3rd Wednesday of August - so check your diary for that day, and carnival is the week around it. Carnival week is preceded by the two Children's Weeks.
